zotowee is a dating app for adults in India. This policy explains what we collect, why, who ever sees it, and how to get it deleted. It is written to be read, not to be survived — if anything here is unclear, write to support@zotowee.com and we will explain it in plain words.

zotowee is operated by DODO DIGITAL, Mumbai, India. In this policy "we" and "us" mean that company, and "you" means the person using the app.

What we collect

To sign you in

  • Your phone number. It is how you sign in, and it is the only thing we require. We send the code by SMS through Google's Firebase Authentication or through MSG91, an SMS provider, and check it before letting you in. We do not use your number for marketing, and no other member ever sees it.
  • A password, if you choose to set one. It is optional, a second way to sign in. We keep only a one-way hash of it, never the password itself, so nobody here can read it.

Your profile, because you typed it

  • Your first name, date of birth, gender, who you would like to meet, and the interests you pick.
  • Anything optional you add: a bio, job title, education, height, city.
  • Up to 6 photos. We rotate each one the right way up, resize it, and strip the metadata the camera attached, including where the photo was taken, before anyone else can see it.
  • A verification selfie, if you ask to be verified. It is stored privately, seen only by a reviewer, and never shown to other members or attached to your profile.

Where you are, if you allow it

  • Your approximate location, used to show you people nearby and to work out distances. Other members see a rounded distance, never coordinates.
  • On the Map, if you choose to appear there, your pin is snapped to a grid at least a kilometre wide, so it shows an area and not an address. Being on the Map is off until you switch it on, and you can switch it off again at any time.
  • Map tiles are fetched from a map provider as you scroll, which means your device's IP address reaches them. They do not receive your account or your profile.

What you do in the app

  • Likes, passes, Super Likes, matches, and who you unmatched or blocked.
  • Messages you send in chats. They are stored so your conversation still exists tomorrow.
  • Moments you post: the video, its thumbnail, its caption, and counts of views and likes.
  • Calls you place or take: who called whom, when, and for how long. The audio and video of a call are never recorded or stored by us. They travel between the two phones through Agora, our calling provider.

Your device

  • Platform, app version and a notification token, so a match or a message can reach you when the app is closed.
  • The IP address your requests arrive from, kept in server logs for a short time for security.

Purchases

  • What you bought, when, and whether it is still active. Payment itself happens inside Apple's or Google's systems. We never see your card.

When you contact us or report someone

  • What you write to support, and reports you file or that are filed about you, including the message or profile being reported.

We do not run advertising, we do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.

Why we use it

  • To run the app: sign you in, build your profile, find people who match what you asked for, deliver messages and calls, show Moments.
  • To keep people safe: review photos and Moments, act on reports, block ban evasion, and enforce the Community Guidelines.
  • To meet the law: confirm you are 18 or over, keep records we are required to keep, and respond to lawful requests.
  • To handle money: confirm a purchase with the store that processed it, and apply what you bought to your account.

Most of this rests on the consent you give when you create an account and when you grant a permission, such as location or notifications. You can withdraw any of it; some withdrawals mean a feature stops working, and withdrawing consent to the basics means closing your account.

What other members see

Your first name, age, photos, bio, interests, city, a rounded distance, your verified badge if you have one, and your Moments. If you are on the Map, they see an approximate pin.

They never see your phone number, your date of birth, your exact location, your email if you gave us one, who else you liked, or anything you have reported.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your personal data, and we never will.

We share only what a job needs, with:

  • Google (Firebase) — sends your sign-in code and delivers notifications.
  • Agora — carries call audio and video between phones. They handle the stream, not a recording.
  • Apple and Google — process purchases and tell us that one happened.
  • Our hosting provider — runs the servers your data sits on.
  • Map tile provider — serves the map imagery your app draws.

We also disclose data when the law genuinely requires it, when we must act to prevent serious harm to someone, and to a buyer if the business is ever sold, in which case this policy continues to apply until you are told otherwise.

Our own staff can see your profile, your photos and reports about you, in order to moderate. They cannot read your private chats. When a message is reported, the reviewer sees that message and its immediate context, and nothing more. Every moderation action is recorded.

Where your data lives

Our servers are in India. Firebase, Agora, Apple and Google operate globally, so some processing happens outside India under their own protections. We do not transfer your data to any country the Indian government has restricted.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and profile: until you delete it.
  • After you delete: your profile disappears from the app immediately. Everything is erased permanently after 14 days, during which signing back in cancels the deletion. Photos and Moments files are deleted with it.
  • Moments: removed automatically after the number of days set in the app, whether or not you delete anything.
  • Messages: kept while the match exists. Unmatching removes the conversation from both sides.
  • Safety and moderation records: kept after deletion where we need them to stop a banned person returning, or where the law requires. These are kept to the minimum and separated from your profile.
  • Purchase records: kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Keeping it safe

Traffic to our servers is encrypted in transit. Your sign-in token is held in your phone's own secure keystore. Photos are served from storage that does not accept uploads from anyone but us. Staff access is limited by role, protected by mandatory two-factor authentication, and logged. No system is perfect; if a breach ever affects you, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the DPDP Act requires.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:

  • See what we hold about you, and a summary of how it is processed.
  • Correct anything inaccurate, or complete anything missing. Most of it you can edit yourself in the app.
  • Erase your data by deleting your account, in the app under Settings, or at t zotowee.com/delete-account without needing the app.
  • Withdraw consent you gave earlier.
  • Nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or become incapacitated.
  • Complain to us first, and to the Data Protection Board of India if we fail you.

Write to support@zotowee.com and we will answer within 30 days.

Grievance officer

As required by Indian law, complaints about how your data is handled go to:

GRIEVANCE OFFICER NAME

We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days.

Children

zotowee is for adults only. You must be 18 or over. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up and refuse accounts under 18. If we learn an account belongs to a minor, we delete it and its content immediately. If you believe a minor is using the app, report the profile or write to support@zotowee.com and we will act the same day.

Cookies on our website

Our website uses a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in to the staff console and to protect forms against abuse. There are no advertising or analytics cookies. The app itself does not use cookies.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, and the date at the top will change. Continuing to use zotowee after that means the new version applies.
